    almost got the bugs worked out

    so when i go into yast it says my screen res is 1280x800. if i right click the desktop and click configure desktop, the highest it will go is 1024x768. it looks like the latter. how can i get the full potential of my monitor and graphics card.

    intel 945 gm chip. although the computer says 950 media accelerator

    Did you install the i915-resolution package? There are some problems with getting widescreen going on the default i810 driver so you may need this package too.
