Newbie in need for help plz! :)
I worked with Red Hat in college 10yrs ago! Been working on windows with some exposure to apache and mysql but no real Linux experience.
My employer is making radical changes, I am now the proud owner (sys admin) of 8 open SUSE Linux machines, some hosting apache2 some mysql. I have been reading for a week and some things are ok. But I am struggling to find MAN / manual pages and instructions on simple commands like searching the whole directory structure for a file (if i dont know where the file is located but i know its name). I asked for training but even if I'm lucky and they approve it (doubtful), it wont be until a couple months from now, but I am the system admin "now" so i am studying on my own, which is normal for me.
So, help me become a SuSe expert please, or at least find useful command line / terminal instructions that are SUSE-centric.
I am happy to learn this, and add this skill to me resume. In fact I want to run my own web server at home in the future with SUSE. So, i need to learn this, for work and for personal use. I see some of the salaries Linux Admins make seem impressive :)
I need to learn SUSE system administration. Things like:
system resources, connections, logged in users, disk space, backup mysql databases, cron jobs etc.
please share with me links to documents, PDFs, books, pages with SUSE commands, quick references, lists of commands, details on how to use commands, and things like cron jobs in suse and how to manage an apache server on suse - all from the command line.
Your help is appreciated
P.S> I am using openSUSE 12.1 Asparagus.
