shortcomings of SuSE 9.1 personal
So as a complete beginner to linux, I've found that some things (that I want to have) that many distributions come with automatically (including possibly SuSE 9.1 Professional?) are not included in SuSE 9.1 Personal. Kile, Gaim, and a gcc compiler are a few of these. Am I wrong?
Can anyone help me install these (especially the gcc compiler so that I can compile my extracted tar files)? I have some rpms but they don't seem to be installing when I try to open them through YaST or when I "rpm i-" them in the shell.
Also, is there a place where I can see all the rpm packages I've installed and where they've installed?
