sdb2 is the root of suse, sdb3 is the home partition of suse. I will try to find out how I can implement what you said...
I tried the suggestions...I installed grub 'successfully' a few times.
When I restart the machine automatically takes me into windows and doesn't show grub. Should I attempt to install grub on the windows partition, or would that be too dangerous?
You definitely do NOT want to install Grub on the windows partition. The info you posted previously shows your Suse install on sdb so you need to set that drive to first boot priority in the BIOS when initially booting. If you are still getting windows on boot, then the windows drive is set to first boot priority. If you installed Grub on Suse and got success then setting its' drive to first boot priority in the BIOS should resolve the issue.
