Wireless, XVID MPEG-4 codec, Libre
I bought a Notebook recently and since i was short on money i decided on buying computer with Linux, instead of paying for Windows. At least it was better decision than MS DOS.
At the first day i was like: "That's not that bad as people say", but at the next day i met serious problems.
I would like to ask about resolution of the following issues but, please, take a note of that my nickname is not randomly picked - i'am total noob at Linux for sure. Try to explain me step by step what i should do and what info i need to provide to you, so you could help me out; also, explain me the abbreviations that you used.
I have HP 655 Notebook, Linux Suse 11, GNOME
My problems are:
1) I've tried to watch episodes of an anime that i transfered from USB but i was asked to search for XVID MPEG-4 codec/drivers. I applied all related to drivers and Banshee, Totem, Kaffeine applications with Yast, but i stil cannot watch movies and XVID MPEG-4 are required. Any solutions?
2) When i tried to connect to public (library) wireless network there were no proposed channels to pick from. What i've done was: right clikcing on the net icon->setting of connection->wireless drop menue, and there was nothing. What should i do? What info you need to help me about that and how can i check it?
3) Why when i try to open .zip files an eror message apears? Something like: "this is part of multy disc...insert the next...the directory could not be found"..
4) Does libre Writer has option to make a cover pages like word? For example a cover for book.
Thanks. Aks me what i shoud provide more like info but, if is something related to my system or computer parameters, please, tell me how to check it.
