Hi I am trying to get either Debian or Ubuntu on my computer, I have a burned Debian disk from this months "Linux Magazine", and I'm not able to do a thing at the partitioning step, and I've burned three Ubuntu disks to the guides and all failed, so could someone who had a successful burn using Nero Express 6 please walk me through all the options you chose and which mirror you chose, and what burn speed you chose, what disk type you chose and what you did to it please?

What error message does installer throw in partitioning step? Try to burn .iso image at lowest possible speed supported by Nero. Are you dual booting? How much disk space do you have?

OK, well one of the disks I burned booted and showed a kinda pop-up window with a error message about I/O, so the main problem is the burning, or downloading, so I need to know which mirror you used, and what options in the burning you used, I know to choose the slowest but what burn options at the start do I choose?

Select 'BURN Image to Disk' option in Menu and keep other options as default. I dont think any mirror has corrupted .iso images. Administrators check those regularly.

OK but what option do I choose in the drop-down, and theres no "BURN Image to Disk" option

I use Nero 7, and to burn an .ISO (disk image) i got to a selection called backup, then there's an option to "Burn Image to Disc" and from there on it straight forward.

Try the last one, and report back, or a screen shot would be nice.

use the selection Disk Image or Saved Project, then they will ask u for a file, so what you do is provide the .iso file and click start and it will burn. juz remember, do not put the speed too high

OK, thank you all for posting back, but what option in the drop-down do I choose and what stage would you like to have the screen-shot of?

I was going along with "Drop Down" as the drop down list right to choose which device to choose for the task at hand, my guess would be that:

These two are the same device, same letter assigned to them (E), you've got a combo drive (able to burn cd's and dvd's). Also as you are trying to burn a Ubuntu .iso file (disk image) you will be burning a cd right. So pick:

After that, in your "Selection" drop down list, pick "Disk Image or saved project" as thats what an .ISO file comes under, this should throw up a box asking you to point to the file, locate the file in where ever you saved it, after selecting that file it should then go onto the next screen, something like a summary screen of what you are about to do.

Make sure you got a blank Cd in drive.

Click burn and away it goes
