beryl?

i downloaded a file called 'beryl-core-0.2.1.tar.bz2' from Beryl-project.org , and i need some help compiling this package...

in the installation help, it says "1. `cd' to the directory containing the package's source code and type"...what does 'cd' mean?
also, it tells me to type all these things...where do i type them?

Have a look at LinuxCommand.org: Learn the Linux command line. Write shell scripts.

However, Beryl is no more, it has remerged with Compiz to become Compiz Fusion.

Are you using Gutsy Gibbon (7.10)? because compiz is enabled by default in Gutsy. Just install compizconfig-settings-manager to play about with different settings.
Yjou may also need to install restricted drivers for your graphics card... System --> Administration --> Restricted Drivers Manager

Yes I have Gusty Gibbon, but I just switched Hard Drives to used Windows because I uninstalled all the outdated drivers I have, and tried to install the new ones, but ran into a few problems.

Here is a link to the thread I made on Ubuntu Forums...
