Format Partition as EXT2

I want to install Freespire on one of my FAT32 partitions. The Freespire does not have a partition editor by itself so I have to do it in my existing Ubuntu. How to do that?

Use gparted. You may want to use the Live-CD for this task. Backup important data first.

to do it from the command line:
first you need to find which partition you want to format:
Code:
sudo fdisk -l
find the partition you want, it will be something like /dev/hda3
then format the partition:
Code:
sudo mke2fs /dev/hda3
just change the /dev/hda3 to whatever the partition you want to format is.

Done.
