madWIFI should work

I installed madwifi via compiling from source and after some unrelated stuff ran $sudo modporbe ath_pci; I then scanned for wireless networks using iwlist
and found mine. I connected and it started to receive packets at a good rate.

Then I ran $firefox &; and firefox opened but could not find any servers. All settings and signal strength are fine.

Any ideas?

If you are getting 404 errors it sounds like you have not set up your DNS
correctly.

Open a terminal and use this command

nslookup Google

Post the results back here

Hmmm, you have DNS. Do you have a firewall installed?

I don't think I have a firewall. Unless ubuntu has a firewall on installation.
