Well this is nuts! I can't believe I got the DSL once, but now I can't remember what I did (if anything) to make it connect. I've done a ton of searching and researching, but every suggestion I find makes it seem as simple as it really should be. WHY I can't get that connection again is beyond me.
The funniest thing about this is, I was able to boot the laptop from a Live Arch CD, and it had no problem configuring and connecting to the DSL all on its own. That's like a kick in the face. What the heck is causing me to be unable to connect to this modem/router thing in the first place? I can through Windows, but not Slackware on the other machine. Same DSL connection and everything, even hardware router/modem (mouterm?) is the same, I just move the connection cables each time. Like I said, this is nuts. Only once was I able to log in to the mouterm and specify a user login with password and all, then it was a free pass to the internet no matter what I wanted to do. Why can't I do that NOW???
