You can do most things in Linux that you can do in Windows. However, it is generally a good idea to use the Linux equivalents to the Windows software running via Wine or Cedega. But the big problem, the big, big problem, is games I'm afraid. Although a lot of games do work, a lot won't, not without a lot of tweaking at least. Wine apps HQ, this game installs but won't run. The advise we usually give to gamers is to keep a Windows partition for games, and use Linux for everything else.
