Where are things in the Linux filesystem?

Where are the program files located such as Open Office. And basically anything else that I would need to know.

Like in Windows there's Program files where the programs are stored
The windows folder has all the system files and so forth.

Linux does not install and manage package like Windows OSes. Files are stored in different folders according their types.
/usr/bin, /sbin for binaries, /usr/lib, /lib for libraries and so on. Check this artilce on Linux Filesystem layout.

Where files are placed is determined by the File Heirarchy Standard. Its applicable to Linux, Unix and other Unix like OSes although there can be slight variations in implementation.
