You'll need to convert it using alien (file conversion tool). Check this Sun HowTo for more info:

1.**Installing StarOffice (StarOffice 8 Administration Guide)

The linux section is about half way down the page.

That was too messy and too undefined too. I need a step by step guide what to like this :

1 Do that
2 Do this
and so on with specific commands and package to download if necessary ,since i am a newbie and reading it was a little freaky and about the DEB package it had only a verse how to do it.

The How-To ozar linked to offers precisely this. Can you tell us on which step you're getting confused?

They've broken it down into a step-by-step format on the bottom part of this page:

1. Installing StarOffice 8 (StarOffice 8 Getting Started Guide)

You might need the file with rpm extension rather than the sdm extension to install it. I've never tried running StarOffice on any Debian derivatives, so I'm not sure. Either way, I think you'll need to convert it to a .deb file using alien.

The alien package can be found in the Debian repos:

Debian -- Details of source package alien in sid

The web page for alien can be found here:

alien
