[SOLVED] downgrading Ubuntu

i want to downgrade my Ubuntu from 7.10 to 7.04

i boot from CD and select "Start or install Ubuntu"
then after the bar loads, i get this message:-

Failed to start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely it is not set up correctly. Would you like to select the X server output to diagnose the problem?

i then select Yes, but i still cant solve the problem

what should i do to solve this problem?

thank you

I don't think it's a good idea to downgrade a distribution. Upgrading is fine, but things tend to break when you downgrade.

I agree with Manchunian and recommend a fresh install. Doing that should be much quicker than trying to recover from any problems that would come from downgrading.

Just my own opinion, of course.

Any particular reason why you want to downgrade?
