hi casper,

i pressed ctrl+alt+f1 after selecting kernel18 and entered "sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf" and pressed enter. a text mode file appeared. what i found in that is as below:

Section "Device"
identifier "Graphics XXXXXXX"
end section

thats all so i added manually the things u gave and pressed ctrl+x, y and switched to ctrl+alt+f7 and logged in, but in vain. the same case also now. i got a blank screen still. am awaiting ur reply. thanks in advance. one thing i ld like to ask is "shall i uninstall ubuntu as i installed thru wubi installer". i found uninstall option also. shall i uninstall and install again in my box. is it necessary, please advice me.

If you have installed Ubuntu through Wubi then go for re-install.
In case you want to fix this problem without re-installation, post the Video Card section of xorg.conf file here.
