| I bet before you waste any time, get on with working on your documents. I had a similar issue with an FAT32 partition. Luckily all the files were on my gMail inbox. I never recovered those files from the hard disk.
Well, if the drive is accessible on Windows, don't forget to have a look. Actually, when you have SHIFT DELETED a file, it is not deleted, its still there on hard disk just a false apparent free space is shown. When you write a new file on the disk and inidently it occupies the same sector on disk, the file is over written. An experiment was performed (on Windows OS), two files (one deleted two weeks ago and the other a day before) were recovered using a backup software. The older one was a bit corrupt while the recent one was as good as never shown the face of trash can.
Try your luck with any backup software then do anything else.
