Smile Python learning

Hi all,

I am just started learning python online from here. This page instructs me to install some packages related to python to learn and program from

1. Ted's Mozilla page - Extension Developer's Extension - extension
developer's extension

2. Zotero: The Next-Generation Research Tool - Zotero

3. ActiveState - Free the dragon! - Dynamic Tools for Dynamic Languages - Kumodo

and python (as its already installed in ubuntu).

My question is, are these reliable sources to download and install in ubuntu 8.04 (am new to linux).

Also tell me where can i get "python - beautifulsoup" for the same learning process. i searched in "add/remove" - cant find in it. Please suggest me for all above mentioned things. Thanks in advance.

Hi, mailtwogopal!

I don't see ant reason to download all of those if you're only just started to play around with Python. I would start with the basics at first. Try the info from Python's official site, then for a tutorial go to the Python Tutorial.

Good luck!

Activestate are very very very reputable. I use Komodo Edit myself and I think
it is great. If you are just learning however, stick with a very simple editor.
Doing so will focus your mind on the language.
