problems with filesystem permissions

am trying to save my video clips to my filesystem but it wont let me. says make sure you have the correct file permissions. no idea what i have to do

any ideas plzz

Regular users dont have permission to save files outside their home folder ( /home/user_id ). I would suggest you not to save files in any other place.

Are you trying save files in other Partition? You have to give permissions for that too.

am converting a avi video to mpeg using devede but it says i have not to save files in a vfat or fat32 file system. but it doesnt work whan i save it to my home folder get the error message (unable to craete bin/cue files maybe you dont have enough space)

Execute these commands :

df -h
sudo apt-get clean all
df -h
sudo fdisk -l

You have a lot of free space in / partition. Could you post exact error message that devede throws?
