| Playing games Okay, I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 onto my laptop without much problem. It's a dual core with 3gb of RAM, if that's relavent. I've never seen linux loaded onto a decent computer and I wanted to see what it looked like and what it could do.
In the Add/Remove Programs module(?), there was a game called Warzone 2100. I tried running this and it seems like a great game, but several minutes into the game, it crashes(?) and drops back to the ubuntu desktop. No warning messages or error messages or anything.
I tried uninstalling it and loading the last stable release of the game, which I was then warned not to do but ignored the warning, and I get the same result. Curious if it was my computer's hardware or something, I booted off Vista (dual-boot) and downloaded a windows version. The game runs fine.
Any idea how I might have ubuntu configured incorrectly or is it an incompatibiltiy in the packages somewhere? Any thoughts?
I'd like to get rid of vista completely. |
