Dual boot: Vista & Ubuntu 8.10 external Drive gurb error 22
I am new to Linux and wanted to give it a try I installed ubuntu using the guided install. I was trying to install unbuntu on a external drive that already has data.
I have a 74 GB drive that Vista 64bit is installed, a internal 300GB drive, and a and a 250 GB drive that is external usb. Right now I want to either reverse everything and get Vista up and running, or if possible fix grub to dual boot both.
So far I have tried all of the Vista Bootrec repair options. some say successful, others give me a error.
sudo fdisk -l displays:

What is the problem that you are trying to fix? Did you install Ubuntu on a harddrive? When you boot up, does it boot up to Ubuntu? Google GRUB.
Did you forget to feed the Penguin?

Hello, crayak! Welcome to LinuxForums!
When you boot you machine do you get any OS at all? If not, not a major problem. What I would do (only cuz Windows likes being first), is fix the MBR for it. If you have a Vista install CD, boot to Rescue mode and executeYou should be able to get to Vista after that. If you can get that going, post back and we'll get the Ubuntu going.Code:fixmbr
