Unhappy Aiptek graphics tablet

When I used 8.10 my Aiptek 8000u graphics tablet was recognized, and I was able to use it in Gimp. Since the update to 9.04 it no longer works. I have tried downloading the Linux drivers from the Aiptek site, but the install keeps failing with a "Can't find X" message. I downloaded the Xorg drivers from the same source, but that would not install.

Would an update to 9.10 fix this, or is there another way of getting my tablet to work? i need to get it working now

Sorry for the delay in getting back, the instructions worked. Had to fiddle about a bit with settings, but thanks.
