| currently there are at least 8 users more on your system (system users) In Unix-like OSes there's always a virtual user called root that has access to everything on the system and owns everything except /home/<yourusername> so you can't change root's files.
This is a security measure and help o protect your system, also you shouldn't log as root always as it is very dangerous.
To copy the files graphically go to a terminal and type "sudo nautilus" (not recommendable but easy for a noob) and copy the files from there and inmediatly close all root-nautilus windows.
