I called acer and they told me its an integrated SiS Mirage videocard on an Aeus motherboard.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
and answer all the question accordingly to your setup. Your video driver is either "sis" or "vesa".

I will give it a go..i believe its a SiS even though I saw Vesa in kcontrol days before...very weird...

I got it working! whooo...i deleted all the conf files from the past few days, cloned and copied and renamed a conf file from july i found in the x11 section and rebooted and it worked! thank you for your help!

You should get a choice in your login manager (where you type username and password after boot) to go into fluxbox (session).
