Disabling onboard sound in ALSA - Audigy2 not working

Hi

A linux new comer here and I was just setting up my system when I had a fun adventure with my sound.

I installed Ubuntu 6.10 - sound not working
Updated the Kernel - Sound working
Another update - Sound not working
Did
Quote:
1. Modprobe the following modules: snd-pcm-oss snd-emu10k1 and snd-mixer-oss.
2. Stick the above modules in your /etc/modules
3. Reboot your machine
Sound working

Rebooted - sound not working.

I'm pretty confused as why the heck it's not working I can get it going in XMMS but I'd rather like to have system sound as well.

Thanks for your time.
