    NVIDIA API Mismatch in Feisty

    Hello all,

I just did an upgrade to Feisty from Edgy. I've had no problems at all with NVIDIA graphics drivers in Edgy. After I installed the driver in Feisty, I can't get in to X. When I view a detailed output, it says that I have kernel module version 1.0-7184 and I have driver version 1.0-9755. However, the output of

    Code:
    dpkg-query -l | grep nvidia
    says:

    Code:
    ii nvidia-glx-new 1.0.9755+2.6.20.5-15.20
    ii nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1ubuntu7
    ii nvidia-new-kernel-source 1.0.9755+2.6.20.5-15.20
    What should I do?
It would be nice to get any help I could.

I had the same problem once on Ubuntu Edgy.
Edit the /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common file and add "nv" to the DISABLED_MODULES line
make sure you back it up first.

    EX: DISABLED_MODULES="nv, [...]"

    It Works!!!

I got it working (had to learn how to use vi in the process ). Someone said 9631 drivers were the latest for Feisty but apparently that's not so. 9755 is working smoothly on my box. Thank you so much!

The 9631 are the latest for some older video cards (like my GeForce3). The 97xx series do not support them.
