Question Dual Boot? Suse 10.2, Ubuntu 7.04, Win Xp

I already have SUSE and windows on my computer, and the dual boot is working fine, I wanted to test out Ubuntu because it has such good reviews etc. but I want to keep SUSE in charge of the GRUB boot set-up. So is there some way to do that, I can reinstall SUSE after I install Ubuntu if it would make SUSE the boot loader controller thing.

Install Ubuntu in free space. LiveCD installer doesn't ask for Boot Loader location and will install GRUB in MBR overwriting SuSe's GRUB.
after Ubuntu Installation, boot up from SuSe's Installation CD/DVD and select 'Installation'. select 'Update' in next screen. click next, next..... SuSe's Installer will install GRUB again.

boot up SuSe and mount Ubuntu Partition. copy first block of 'title, root, kernel and initrd' lines from Ubuntu's /boot/grub/menu.lst file and paste in SuSe's /boot/grub/menu.lst file.

Haven't used suse in a few months but doesn't the Grub module in Yast give the option of merging suse into the current grub setup (menu.lst file)?

yes it does but Ubuntu Desktop CD doesn't give any choice regarding GRUB location or installation. it installs GRUB in MBR by default. you have to re-install SuSe's GRUB using installation CD/DVD. you can add an entry for Ubuntu through Yast but you should know the correct kernel version and other options passed to kernel.
copy and paste is simplest and best way IMHO.
