Exiting due to error

This error has baffled me, and I don't know what to do anymore. Any thoughts?

I have tried...

Running it as root
killall esd
updating it (even updating it AFTER putting the Bonus pack on)
updating video card drivers (half-life2 works in wine, so I know they work.)

Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty (X-86)
AMD 64 X2 4200+
