No Sound

This seems to be a common problem. I have no sound when I use Linux. When I go under system/preferences/sound, under the various options, it gives me choices between nVidia CK804, nVidia CK804 - IEC958, ALSA, ESD, and OSS. I have no idea how to configure the sound card or install proper drivers. Any help is appreciated.

Cool

Hey,
Does your sound card is detected ? does drivers are installed for it?
What is the output of your following commands
#lspci
#dmesg
#alsa$ sudo alsaconf

# cat /proc/asound/modules
# sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
# autoloader aliases

alsaconf is not available in Ubuntu.
Execute this
Code:
alsamixer
