Problems with booting CD (Kubuntu 7.04)

Total newb to linux but I love it already. ran into some problems thought after I've installed Kubuntu 7.04 on my first 2 computers. My last comp is a bit older(P4 2.88GHz, Asus p4s8x MB, 1gb ram) and there is where the problems started.

    1. Kubuntu start screen - my pick is "Start or install Kubuntu"
    2. After I pressed it began to load, and then after a couple of seconds I got some weird error msgs. The first one was a basic:
    "crc error
-- System halted_" after which I restarted to get yet another error msg :

Any idea what so ever? :S I started to copy the code from the section I thought looked a bit suspicious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I checked the bios settings and they seem all fine to me, even tried to boot w/o HD and with different optical drives but with same result . SO i tried to boot with winxp cd but that one said shortly after the bootscreen initiates that i got a kernel problem. Can post screen if you want me to.

Check the CD for error...it can be done at the very beginning, before the LIVE CD starts loading Kubuntu.

I've never felt the need to do that since I've been using the very same disc before and after on other computers. At the very moment I got the disc running in one of my computers w/o any problems. I can imagine this one being a tough nut to crack so I'm really more eager to know if there is any point what so ever in me keeping the computer.

Is the BIOS of your troubling computer has Virus Protection enabled? If yes, please disable that. Otherwise let us know here.

Figured it out. The errors I got where very similar to memory addresses, I tried taking out both sticks and running in a single channel only. It booted up alright after that. After install I checked the MB memory setup and it turned out that I placed the original mems in non compatible slots whereas the kernel couldn't load. Its not in their proper slots and I'm a bit embarrassed for me not checking before disturbing :P.
