One of those drivers will probably work for you because MEPIS is based on Debian if I'm not mistaken. One of the .deb files will probably work for you, or you might be able to install the source file, which will be a harder procedure.

In fact, I'll bet you can extract just the PPD file from the source file (the top driver on that page) and then move it to /usr/share/cups/model like I said above, then select your printer from the list.

You might also find the Linux drivers on the CD that came with the printer. It might take some digging to find it.

In fact, here it is. I've extracted the file for you and fetched the PPD file. Just copy file to a text editor and save it as Lexmark_E350d_en.PPD, then put a copy of it in your /usr/share/cups/model folder, then restart cups, or reboot your machine:

Once you've done that, you should be able to select your printer from the printers list.

I had quite a while, because I was using the editor "Kate", for the first time, and it showed a few error messages about having rights, etc., but I when it and out a out a few times, till I was able to save the files to a folder. My file system does not look so tidy and compact at the moment, but I might get some good routine.

After rebooting, and adding the printer again to the „Add Printer Wizare“, the printer was detected nicely, and is listede in in the Wizard.

Print quality seems to be better. But still only prints one or five lines. - Refuses to do a single print from the other testprinters.

And sometimes, I receive the folling two error messages:

„The file format application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text is not directly supported by the current print system.

You now have 3 options:

KDE can attempt to convert this file automatically to a supported format. (Select Convert)

You can try to send the file to the printer without any conversion. (Select Keep)

You can cancel the printjob. (Select Cancel)

Do you want KDE to attempt and convert this file to application/postscript?“

„No appropriate filter was found to convert the file format application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text into application/postscript.
Go to System Options -> Commands to look through the list of possible filters. Each filter executes an external program.
See if the required external program is available.on your system.“

Yup!: Just this minute, the printer started to print properly!!...!

Great!...Fantastic!... !....

I think "I am over the hill", and have managed the biggest hurdle.

Now I will only have to do some fine adjustements. For hours and hours, I have just been doing settings and adjustments.... It is incredible, where one can, and often has to do some fine tuning and adjusting. Well, now I am sooo glad, I came so far.
So from here, it is not so much work anymore.

It is looking like I am managing just in time, so that I can catch up with some other work, very soon.

I also see, that is a thing on the laptop, where it shows my wifi card, but it does not look much like I could do some relevant changements. Well, I shall try, what I can do with "update_rc.d"...., if I can get the wireless conection under control.

I might get that bottle of white wine, that is standing out in the cool..., and some nice food to go with it. It is about time, to get some deassant food. I shall do some shopping later. Jummy, jummy,.....

Thanks a lot, Ozar, I think, without you, it mitht of have taken me a few days more to do it.
