Limewire is a filesharing (P2P) program, not a media player. It may have a preview window or something. I suggest you try Mplayer, Xine, Kaffeine or Noatun. One of these should be installed on Ubuntu by default.

I'm pretty sure Ubuntu comes with Xine or Kaffeine, not Mplayer though. The preview function in limewire is broken and doesn't work most of the time. Acutally, I don't think it's ever worked. And you're using limewire for illegal purposes, stop using it.

You need to configure limewire to use the player you want. This can be done in the options. I did so myself as well.
On a side note, Ubuntu does not come with xine by default.
You can install xine by using Synaptic or apt-get
Basically, the packages are
libxine1 and xine-ui
Once you do so, your Limewire would probably work with the player since it seems to be configured by default to use Xine. Of course, you can change the path to your player in Limewire itself."A graphical user interface is just a mask. What lies beneath is what matters."

i thaught i had this figured out, i took Felarin's advice and looked at the player options of limewire, there's only two choices, use limewires player or the computers default, i had mentioned before that i have a totem player, so i thaught it would work when i chose to use the default player but it did not
