    MTAB Modification Fails

I want to edit my /etc/mtab so that my hda1 would be mounted as /media/hda1 only instead of /media/disk-1. I edit and save the file but on next boot, the old settings have been stored. What should I do?

You shouldn't be editing the mtab file because it gets automatically rewritten each time the mount command is used.

    Edit the fstab file, instead.
