    What is ubuntu written in?

What language is used to write the basics of the ubuntu OS?
I know that you can use phython and such to write programs for linux but what do you use to write OSs?
    Sorry for this stupid/simple question.

It's a not common question, but never stupid

All linux distributions uses (almost) the same kernel (in the matter of fact, linux is the kernel, and the OS is the kernel + GNU applications)... the kernel is written majority in C, and some parts in assembler language (low level layers).

Base applications are written almot all in C language, but many in scripting languages such as bash script, perl, python and others.

Desktop applications and environments are written in C++ (such as KDE), C and other languages... with many tools and programs in many many other languages... this is one of the best parts of GNU world: diversity
