    DeVeDe situation - skipping movies...

Alright, so I'll just list everything I've done up to this point.

    - Got DeVeDe from the official Repositories (With Synaptic)
    - In the settings, used Median setting for filtering (seems to always work back in Feisty, recently got off from Windows and decided to try Gutsy)
    - Made my .avi files into .iso for burning
    - Burned said files at 1x because that's how I always did it in the past
    - Put videos in DVD player and they both do periodic skipping; as in, it goes for a few seconds, stops, goes for a few seconds, stops, etc etc...
    - Remembered I never installed the win32 codecs, so I followed this guide, replacing the old versions he states with the newer packages.
    - Successfully installed w32 codecs - but will they be recognized in /usr/lib/win32? I always used to just install a .deb package so I never really knew where the codecs went...
    - Used GetDeb.Net to find the latest version of DeVeDe.
    - Installed latest package of MPlayer, 1.0rc~2, with GetDeb.Net
    - Tried movies in a different DVD player, they seemed to work there. Played them in original DVD player, they still skipped. Maybe I'll try more players tomorrow but for now I want to make sure ALL my DVD players can read these.

That's all I've done up to this point. I don't want to waste another DVD, since I'm kinda getting low on them and at the moment don't have enough to spend with our budget...

Isn't there some MPlayer workaround I'm supposed to do with sound?

Anyway, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! I'm wondering why I had better luck in Feisty... But doing these work arounds shouldn't be a problem, right?

DeVeDe skipping for me as well

Exact same probem here! Additionally, note that if you have DeVeDe transcode the video_ts folder with the VOBs - you can open the individual VOBs and they will not skip. It is only when you run it as a whole DVD that the jittering will occur. And I too can play the DVD just fine in most livingroom players - but on some - jittering/skipping - and always when using Xine or the like it will skip as a whole DVD. Which leads me to believe that there is some kind of error when DeVeDe writes the IFO files. And I have tried all different settings for the transcode and none matter. Oh, I'm currently using Kubuntu (Hardy Heron).

    FIX for Skipping!!!

Uninstall DeVeDe and reinstall 3.11 from rastersoft.com ..
    __________________________________________________ ___
That was it! That was the whole problem!!! Thank you so much for your help! I installed the 3.11 deb file from your site after uninstalling the 3.6 file from the Kubuntu repositories and that fixed everything! Those repositories need a serious updating as far as DeVeDe is concerned.. Good job!
    =-)
    Thanks again,
    ry

    > Thank you, in advance, for all of your help.. Good news/bad news is it improved it! but is still skipping, just lighter, but still rhythmically skipping.. But it did improve it.. However.. I'm only using version 3.6 from the Kubuntu repositories.. I'm WAY behind on versions. I'm going to get the latest version from your site and see what happens... I'll let you know if that fixes it.. But maybe that is the whole problem.. Could be! Either way I'll let you know..
