    I can't be of much help on this one because my modem is completely different to the one you have. A quick search on google for "ubuntu+zte+usb+modem" shows several articles that may be of interest to you and hopefully will help you setup the modem. My device was detected as usb modem on /dev/ttyUSB0 and I used KPPP to configure it and dial out. The authentication type for 3 is chap, the username is "user" and you don't need a password. The dialup number is *99#. Maybe these settings will help.
