    [SOLVED] Canon printer installation

    Hi

    I am relatively new to Ubuntu and am still having problems installing my canon pixma ip2500.

    when you get to checking the DLL's are working correctly you ran ldd cifip2500

    I am a little confused as to what to do with the output. What do I link the files not found from this output to. there seems to be a lot missing

    skint@skint-laptop:/usr/local/bin$ ldd cifip2500
    linux-gate.so.1 => (0xb7f0f000)
    libcnbpcmcm311.so => not found
    libcnbpess311.so => not found
    libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libm.so.6 (0xb7ed8000)
    libdl.so.2 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2 (0xb7ed4000)
    libtiff.so.3 => not found
    libpng.so.3 => not found
    libcnbpcnclapi311.so => not found
    libcnbpcnclbjcmd311.so => not found
    libcnbpcnclui311.so => not found
    libpopt.so.0 => /lib/libpopt.so.0 (0xb7ecb000)
    libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7d7c000)
    /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f10000)

    I have downloaded the rpm's from the canon site. In have extracted them and installed them using alien. I have moved the pstocanonij file as instructed but am unsure what to do with the above.

    I have tried Turboprinter and it has worked but I am not paying that much to have the logo removed

    Please help

    Have you tried the driver for canon pixma ip2000? It is included in ubuntu 8.04 and it might be copatible with your printer. I believe it is worth a try.

    Check this thread:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3656334

    It might be that you can use Synaptic to install some additional packages to make it work.

    Hi,

    I had a similar problem with my Pixma iP1800. It turned out that the RPMs where for RHat-based distributions ONLY, and installing using alien didn't work because the directory structure was incorrect. I had to use alien to convert the RPMs, extract the DEB, change the directory structure, repackage and install, before my printer worked. You probably will have to do the same.

    Hi

    It turns out you can use the rpm's as long as you move the pstocanonbj file to /usr/lib/cups/filters

    I had been following the thread suggested by ozar before

    [SOLVED] canon pixma ip2500 not printing - Ubuntu Forums

    however i didnt have the repositories to install the packages needed. I got them by adding

    deb http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takushi/ubuntu ./ to the sources.list file

    and then follow the steps for the above mentioned thread,

    The ip2000 driver does not work with the ip2500 in hardy but nice try
