    getting error httpd (no pid file) not running

    Hi Guys
    I am getting this error httpd (no pid file) not running and also I am getting a error 98:

    httpd (no pid file) not running
    (98 Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address
    no listening sockets available, shutting down
    Unable to open logs

    so can anybody tell me how to fix this problem?

    and I do got 2 sites under my server using one ip address.

    here is some more help I got webmin installed also and here is how my sites are setup under virtual host/ /etc/apache2/sites-available/siteone

    site one
    <VirtualHost *>
    DocumentRoot /var/www/cbcperformance/cart/catalog

    site two is setup as like for one

    yes i do still got the default settings in there and this is the guide help me do this:

    and I am using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS server edition

    also I was trying to get SSL working and this is when I got that error httpd (no pid file) not running and the site's was working before I did sudo a2enmod ssl bc i copied the information from here: HTTPD - Apache2 Web Server

    Try running this command as root to figure out what process is using port 443:

    netstat -lnp | grep ''

    If you get an output, it should show what process is taking port 443. You need to either kill or stop that process so that you can start apache listening on port 443.

    Note: according to your error, you are not working with port 80.
    If there was no Linux, my life would not be complete.
