This is where I started with my first question, In windows xp in (my computer) c is the only drive showing apart from cd drive which is d and clicking on it just shows free space 19.6GB and total size 32.2GB there is not a mention of another drive letter am I doing something wrong I am very good at that

There is only one NTFS partition in your HD. You have to resize /dev/sda5 partition and create new. As I suggested earlier, its very easy to shrink /dev/sda5 and create new partition using PartedMagic LiveCD. Just format new partition in NTFS. It will appear in Windows OS and you have to mount it in Linux for data sharing.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
