I want to extend my Swap Area

i was reading an article from "https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwapFaq"
and i created the swap file wonderfully "let's call it swap1.swap"

    mnt$ sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/swap1.swap bs=1M count=1024
    1024+0 records in
    1024+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 25.1902 s, 42.6 MB/s
but when i format the file
    i get
    sudo mkswap /mnt/swap1.swap
Setting up swapspace version 1, size = 1073737 kB
    no label, UUID=0ffb9af2-2167-4cb9-a753-5fd758201f47
mkswap: unable to relabel /mnt/swap1.swap to unconfined_u:object_r:swapfile_t: Invalid argument
    so anyone may help me??
