K3B cannot write to my DVD-RW/CD-RW Combo Drive

Which I don't find surprising since this drive is the reason I could not boot into the Kubuntu LiveCD. (Has something to do with SCSI Emulation. I can find page if anyone wants it for understanding.) When I try to burn a CD or DVD, I get these error messages:

First, I have tried doing the things suggested on the following pages:
    chmod 777 to /dev/scd0
    setting cdrdao parameters
Adding cdrom Privileges to groups and users settings

    Commands I have tried:

    kevbuntu@kevbuntu-desktop:~$ sudo chmod 777 /dev/scd0
    [sudo] password for kevbuntu:
    kevbuntu@kevbuntu-desktop:~$
    kevbuntu@kevbuntu-desktop:~$ groups
kevbuntu adm dialout fax cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev syslog fuse lpadmin admin
    kevbuntu@kevbuntu-desktop:~$
    kevbuntu@kevbuntu-desktop:~$ dmesg | grep -i cd | grep -i rom

This is a link to a snapshot of my current Disks and Filesystems Configuration here.

I've tried everything I could find for three hours. Any other suggestions before my only option is a new DVD burner?? Thanks, everyone!
