    Help with Dell PowerEdge!

    Hi,

I have access to a Dell Power Edge 2500. It's a raid configuration and it's not installing (so it remains Windows 2003 Server Enterprise until I can get Linux on it). I need it for web hosting, and SSH connection. My questions here are:

    - Do I need to enable the RAID array during the install?
    - Can I expect more trouble with it on Ubuntu, or should I go with another distro, something like Gentoo?

If you can answer my questions please I'd be really grateful.

Edit: Setup doesn't go beyond 2% in normal mode. How do I set RAID enabled mode?

I dont have any experience with ubuntu and raid.
However, I run SUSE 10.3 on several Power Edge servers with several RAID configurations.
local disk mirrored (RAID 1) partitions for OS.
SAN with striped (RAID 0) partitions for large read only db tables
    RAID 5 for dynamic data.

    No problems at all.

Here's a link with very good instructions...

I already have solved the case, I found out that when I used an alternate disk I was able to use the RAID controller. This enabled me to install the system, and within an hour I had a system that could do exactly what I want it to do. Be a web-server. Meanwhile I have ssh access.

Holy crap, I got everything to work as it should!!!
