    ubuntu reboted while i was working why?

    ubuntu crashed. how do i find out why
    I was surfing the net and al of a sudden the laptop IBM r51 just loged me out went down and came back up really fast.

    Here is some of the syslog info....

    I dont understand what went wrong.

    It doesn't look like you actually rebooted, but rather X crashed and restarted. The fault appears to be in Compiz (the 3D desktop). If it keeps up, I'd just disable compiz (it's definitely cool, but it's also eye candy you don't need, and last I used it, it used up hardware 3D resources so I couldn't run 3D GL games right). If it doesn't keep crashing on you, then you may be able to just ignore it.
