    You mean something like this?

    You shouldn't need anything special, all I used here is Konqueror. It's probably available in Nautilus too but you might have to search for it in the control panel or something.

    ....nothing like the detail Windows toolbars show...bitrate, dimensions, duration, etc. I was rather hoping for similar. Thanks for the help

    You could switch your view to Details. Not tool tips, but it'll list one file per line with all the data it can pull out of the ID3 tags.
