Palm Will Not Sync
I've been trying to get my palm TX to sync with kubuntu 8.10. Quickly after I place the palm on the cradle I get a warning msg that I've attached below. I did follow some directions at one point where it required me to install visor. It had sync'd a few times, but then it started giving me these errors. Eventually I tried to delete the device, etc.
The msg:
Failed to connect using device 'Cradle', on port 'usb:'.
Check your confirguration, as you requested new-style libusb
'usb:' syncing, but have the old-style 'visor' kernel module loaded.
You may need to select a 'ttyUSB...' device

At the Device Settings screen, click the radio button for USB and then click the down arrow at "/dev/pilot". Select "usb:" from the pull-down menu. That should fix the problem (or at least that's what I did).
(This is thanks to the follwing forum: [ubuntu] Palm Syncing - Ubuntu Forums)

Hi jmadero - I tried this & it hasn't worked for me. The pilot conduit program that comes with ubuntu (I believe gpilot) now just freezes up. I have uninstalled the app & reinstalled it. It still freezes up & I don't know why? Like I had posted before, it had worked at one time.
I don't know if this helps any, but I've noticed that it has caused my palm to reset a couple times just by plugging it in to the usb port. (Although this isn't a consistent occurrence)
I have uninstalled jpilot & reinstalled it also. I haven't tried using it again yet because I'm still trying to add the palm to my machine before I can even use jpilot. I have tried different usb ports & I've even tried changing the setting from "usb:" to some of the other ones. None of my attempts have worked.
I have looked at several posts on the matter to no avail.
Thanks...
