vm player for xp sp2
hi all, can anybody tell me which virtual machine player is suitable for me for a dual booting xp/ubuntu 8.10, for the requirement have the functionality of two seprarte machines in a single machine. so that i can logg on at the same time in a two virtual machines, which is a added advantage for my work at home as a medical transcriptionist. iam using the steadmans and escription softewares. i have tries the VM Playe 2.51 but everything seems to be alright until the final installation but when i tried to logg on it fails, then i restored the registry to the previous set point and it was alright with out VM player, pl help me...

Personally, for virtual machine software I prefer VirtualBox. It's free, it's stable, and I've never had any issues with it.

Try Virtualbox. There is also Portable Ubuntu, which doesn't require a VM to run. But it won't give you 100% of the functionality of a Virtualbox or VMware system and it is based on Ubuntu 8.04 rather than 8.10. (and if you don't want Ubuntu, it's of no use to you since it is not available based on other distros..)

VM player works like a charm to get XP working inside of Ubuntu. To do so:

I did it awhile back a few times to watch Netflix movies but have since decided to just push Netflix to get Linux support (it's in the making I think
) but hopefully that helps you
