Opera
I've googled around for a few hours looking and still cannot find an answer.
I've been using opera for a while now on both my laptop and on my pc. I have ubuntu 8.10 on both. out of no where opera stops working on my pc (it still does on my laptop). I can load any site in firefox jsut fine. but opera will try loading it with a white screen for a while, then drop an error saying "Could not connect to remote server". Ive deleted my cookies, deleted my cache, went to tools and deleted private data. Ive uninstalled it with synaptic and delete my ~/.opera folder. Reinstalled with a few different opera versions, and it still gives me the same error. Sometimes it will say document: 0% and not laod then drop the error. Other times it will say elements somenumber/higher number and it will freeze on the lower number then drop to the error. Any ideas?

Well, you can try a different way of installing Opera maybe. The easy way is to download a deb pkg, it's like a exe. file for Ubuntu. Deb packages can be found on this page. The Opera .deb Repository The Ubuntu instructions are halfway down the page. It sounds like maybe your Opera package in Synaptic may be broken maybe. Look at the bottom message at the page on Synaptic and see if it shows if any packages are broken. Hit update in Synaptic before you check to see if any aare broken to update list. Good Luck
