    usplash restoration

    hello all,

using startup manager i have tried to change my usplash following instructions i found, however the usplash would not load, and now im trying to recover the original usplash, or any usplash actually. i have tried the following:

*deleting link and, making a new one from an existing .so file, renaming to usplash-artwork.so
*using command sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
*using command sudo aptitude install usplash-theme-ubuntu

I have also downloaded a new usplash and tried to use statupmanager to apply this, and my making the link manually but it no work

    many thanks,

    james

Did you set the screen resolution with Startup Manager? Sometimes although the resolution is correct it cannot be set in framebuffer mode and so will fail. You can try falling back to a lower resolution to test this out.

    hello,

    thanks for the reply!

when loading the usplash screen i put the resolution on 1024x800 but that failed, so i turned it down to 800x600, this failed as well. currently its just booting with text displaying at the resolution 800x600, as i cant get it to restore properly.

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    many thanks,
    james
