    Firefox Address Bar Google Search

    Hi All,
I used to be able to put in a search item in the actual address bar and it would come up with google results (does this on my girlfriends machine still) but now when I try I get the following error:

    jar:file:///usr/lib/firefox-3.0.5/chrome/en-US.jar!/locale/browser-region/region.propertiesdogs

Any ideas what could have caused this?

I'd uninstall it and reinstall the package or check and see if there is an update. Firefox shouldn't do that and whenever I have problems with it I usually just reinstall it because its a pretty stable application which is completely free

Had that problem once after installing a tool bar plugin. I would suggest backing off and uninstalling any newly added addons first. If that does not solve the problem, completely uninstall Firefox and then reinstall from your Linux package manager.

Previous discussions with other Linux/Firefox users about similar problems found the Ask Tool bar to be a common problem. One user had difficulty with the Netcraft tool bar, however it has never affected my implementation of it.

My last major problem with Firefox and Java (about 6 months ago) required a full uninstall of it and Java. After re-installing the same I have had no further problems.

Quicknote: uninstalling firefox will likely not remove the ~/.mozilla/firefox folder. If not done, your offending addons may be still there waiting for firefox to reinstall.
