    Ubuntu 8.10

I just installed Version 8.10 as a dual-boot with XP on my computer.

Everything seems to be working ok except my sound card...............no sound from any programs within Ubuntu.

How do I go about getting my sound card to work?

I will post back later with my sound card details.

Try this. Open a terminal (Applications->Accessories) and type:
    Code:
    alsamixer
Raise the 2 left channels all the way to the top and press ctrl+c to exit alsamixer.

All I can see when I follow this procedure is a single column in the middle of the screen.

The colour of the column varies from white at the bottom to red at the top.
There is a little window at the bottom with the number '00' in it.

I can see no way to make adjustments.

Use the arrow keys and q exits

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

BigBarney, you're not using a Sound Blaster sound card are you?
