This is quite strange and I am not sure of the cause. I have a dual boot toshiba laptop with Vista and Kubuntu 8.10. I am very pleased so far with Kubuntu but I am running into a few hiccups. One of these is that passwords that work with Vista do not seem to work with Kubuntu.

Case in point, I cannot access shares on a vista machine over a network using samba with the user name and password to the vista machine. If I boot into vista, these credentials work fine.

Case two: I have to have an encrypted folder on my laptop to store work documents in. I have set up the volume with true crypt and it works flawlessly in vista, however when I try to access the encrypted folder through true crypt in Kubuntu, it tells me that my password is incorrect, or it is not a true crypt volume. I am quite sure of the password, and that this is the correct file.

Any help that anyone could provide would be very much appreciated.
